The primary part of this job is managing our retail Farmstand at the farm in Starksboro. The secondary part of this job is helping with general farm work. It could be part time or full time depending on your disposition.
Managing the Farmstand involves: helping customers, retocking the displays, keeping things clean and tidy and doing some yard work around the farmstand, which could include mowing the lawn, digging, planting and caring for flower beds. This ranges from 10 to 20 hrs a week depending on when it is in the season.
The General Farm Work includes: Caring for plants in the greenhouses. Planting hoeing, weeding and harvesting in the field. Washing, grading and packing produce in the packing barn. Making occasional deliveries in our van. This could fill your time after your Farmstand duties are completed.
Your primary responsibility is the farmstand, so its needs dictate the main things we need from you.
Requirements:
Reliable.
Cheerful and comfortable dealing with the public.
Organized and able to work productively on your own.
Physically fit. Ready willing and able to do grounds maintenance: Digging, planting and maintaining flowerbeds , lawn mowing etc.
You must be available Saturdays and Sundays. (There is some accomodation for occasional weekends off)
You must be available from early May through at least mid September.

Likes dealing with the public
Is well organized and hard working
Doesn't mind working in the dirt
Is able to keep things really neat and clean.
Who has enough flexability in the rest of their life to adjust their work schedule as the season changes.

Field work
Washing and packing wholesale orders
Wholesale deliveries
Duration:
Our Farmstand season runs from Early May through the end of October.
You must be available from early May through at least mid September.
Schedule:
May and June are busy with Plant Sales and Strawberries. Weekends are particularly busy even in the morning.
July, August and early September are busy late in the afternoons, for the extended weekend period Thursday through Monday.
October and late September are busiest on the weekends.
Compensation: The wage is $18.75/ Hr.
